I just finished Battlestar Galactica a couple nights ago, and it was indeed so intense that I had to give myself a little time before I “reviewed it,” and by “reviewed it” I really mean HAILED IT IN ALL ITS GLORY. Seriously, this show is not for those who don’t want to become fully invested in it, because it is amazing and will destroy you. Battlestar deals with extraordinarily human things like religion, politics, war, racism, and every other real-world problem you can expect to find. Except, oh wait, it’s on A SPACESHIP. All the epicness of explosions and stars and otherworldy prophecies without the gimmick, plus themes that are completely relevant? Yeah. It’s out there. It is also impossible to love or hate any of the characters. They are all multifaceted and as soon as you think you can’t stand someone, they come right back at you and prove you wrong. This is also true for the characters you think you adore. This show is about making difficult decisions and the struggle to survive. It’s also about breaking cycles and becoming a part of something greater than yourself. 10/10. But seriously.
